My dumps, my dumps, my lovely anti-racist dumps!

I started making dumplings in an effort to better connect with my Chinese roots. Now it has turned into a beautiful (and tasty!) form of activism.

Dump the Hate was started by Canadian food blogger and chef, Jannell Lo, in response to the rise of anti-Asian racism. She invited participants to make and sell dumplings to friends and family, and donate the proceeds to organizations supporting the Asian community.

The spike in anti-Asian hate crimes was weighing very heavily on me. Dump the Hate was a perfect opportunity for me to channel my energy, emotions and effort into a meaningful initiative.

Proceeds (minus the cost of ingredients) from my initial dumps benefitted:

Butterfly provides support to and advocates for Asian and migrant sex workers.

Fight COVID Racism tracks and responds to incidents of hate and violence against Asian Canadians.

Stop Asian Hate: Support Asian Canadians Fund

Stop Asian Hate: Documenting Anti-Asian Violence

To ensure support is spread across various communities and causes, all proceeds will now benefit Queer Asian Youth. QAY offers culturally competent community- and capacity-building support, helping queer Asian youth navigate cultural complexities that are often entangled with homophobia and transphobia.

Down for Dumps?

Dump the Hate is a great way for people to turn their anti-racist intention into impact. The outpouring of support and generosity has been incredibly overwhelming.

Greater Toronto Area folx, get in touch if you’d like to support the initiative and place an order. For a minimum donation of $1 per dump, you'll get to enjoy morsels of anti-racist yumminess, handmade and folded by yours truly.

I’m accepting donations via eTransfer and trying to avoid carrying and handling cash.

Outside the GTA? Let’s chat and figure out a way to get the dumps to you.

Please be patient with me — I run a one-person team! There’s a waitlist but I will get to every single dumpling. Promise.
